Roughly cut the Chinese cabbage to about 2 cm wide pieces, sprinkle with a little bit of salt (not listed), and rub it in gently. Set aside. When it has become tender, rinse with running water and wring it out.
Spread out the pork and use a spoon to spread on some wasabi. Cut the cheese into 4 pieces and place on the pork. Place some cabbage on top of the cheese and roll up the meat.
When you've finished rolling, place in a heat-resistant dish with the seam side down. Pour sake over the meat and lightly sprinkle with salt and pepper. Lightly cover with plastic wrap and microwave (500 W) for 2 minutes.
Story Behind this Recipe
I wanted to make the most out of Chinese cabbage that's often left over from hot pot made the night before, so I made this easy dish.
Since the cheese is so rich, I think it's best to use a larger amount of wasabi for the bite. The amount of time it takes to cook the pork will depend on your microwave, so pay attention while it's cooking.
