Meatballs for Hot Pots

Meatballs for Hot Pots

These meatballs can be thrown into any type of hot pot broth, such as chanko nabe (chicken base), yose nabe (miso or soy sauce base), miso, kimchi. Add these to your favorite broth base.

Ground pork
150 g
Grated ginger
one teaspoon
1.5 teaspoons
Soy sauce
1.5 teaspoons
Sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon
White sesame seeds
to taste

1. Finely chop the scallions.
2. In a bowl, knead the ingredients together until it sticks together.
3. Use a spoon to roll them into a ball, drop them into your favorite hot pot broth, and it's done once they cook through! This time, I added them to a miso hot pot with chicken breast, Chinese cabbage, carrots, and onions.
4. I made these with ground breast and thigh meat at a 1:1 ratio. This had a completely different texture and also tasted great.

Story Behind this Recipe

The golden ratio of hot pot ingredients is a 1:1:3 ratio of meat, meat balls, and vegetables!!
I always make these without fail on days I make hot pots.
