Enjoy Them Without Any Frills! Boiled Chestnuts

While I love chestnuts simmered in their skins and candied chestnuts, I first like to eat them without any frills.
Enjoy seasonal chestnuts.


500 g


1. Rinse the chestnuts, and pat dry. (After this step, if time allows, let dry for 12 hours.)
2. Put the chestnuts and water in a pan (Fill the pan with a generous amount of water to liberally cover the chestnuts.)
3. Boil the water with the chestnuts in the pot, then reduce the heat to low. Simmer gently for 40 to 60 minutes without boiling.
4. Pour out the hot water, then cover with a lid and steam for about 10 minutes.
5. Strain and cool to handling temperature.
