Freezer Stocked Chestnuts for Chestnut Rice

By peeling and freezing a bunch of chestnuts all at once, you can have delicious chestnut rice any time.


Fresh chestnuts
as many as you like
Ziplock bag
one large enough to hold the chestnuts


1. Peel the chestnuts.
2. Put the chestnuts in a Ziplock bag.
3. Remove the air from the bag and seal. Stock them in the freezer as is.
4. Add the chestnuts to the rice cooker when you make chestnut rice. As soon as I get fresh chestnuts, I rush through my frozen chestnut stock. This dish was made using last year's chestnuts.

Story Behind this Recipe

I wanted to be able to have chestnut rice whenever I felt like it, so I peeled the chestnuts and stocked them in the freezer.
