Ham & Cheese Sandwich Made in a Frying Pan - Easy for Breakfast or Lunch

My husband loved this! Have it for breakfast or lunch. It has crispy toast on the outside and melting cheese on the inside. Yum!!

Ingredients

Thick sliced bread (approximately 2.5 cm thick)
2 slices
Ham
4 slices
Easy melting cheese
2 slices
Mayonnaise
as needed
Margarine
as needed
Black pepper
to taste

Steps

1. Cut a slice of bread in half.
2. Stand the half slice on its side with the crust at the bottom. Slice into two, but not all the way, just nearly to the crust.
3. Note: Do not slice all the way down to bottom! Leave a connection.
4. Cut the ham and cheese into halves.
5. Open the bread and spread with mayonnaise (as much as you want.)
6. Layer ham, cheese and ham, in that order, inside the bread, then close.
7. Spread plenty of margarine over the top of the sandwiches.
8. Cook in the frying pan over low heat. Place the margarine-side down first. While this is cooking, spread margarine on the other side.
9. When the bottom side turns a nice golden brown, flip it over.
10. When the other side also turns golden brown, it's ready to eat! Sprinkle black pepper to taste.

Story Behind this Recipe

I love hot sandwiches, but I can't be bothered to take the sandwich maker out and clean it, so I tried with a frying pan. Wow, it's great!!
