Chikuwa Transformed! My Homemade Satsuma-Age

If you use good quality delicious chikuwa fish paste sticks, sake is the only flavoring you need! It tastes the best served piping hot!

Ingredients: 1 package of chikuwa

Chikuwa
4-pack
Firm tofu
50g
Burdock root
25g
Carrot
About 3cm (25g)
Onion
About 1/8 (25g)
Sake
1 tablespoon
Katakuriko
25~30g
Edamame
optional

Steps

1. This time I doubled the amount. Cut the chikuwa into approximate sizes, julienne the onions and carrots, cut the burdock root into long and thin shavings, and soak all in water.
2. Thoroughly drain the tofu. Blend the tofu, chikuwa, katakuriko, and sake in a food processor until smooth.
3. This is how it should look. Next, add the veggies, and blend in a food processor until it reaches your desired consistency.
4. Roll them up as big as you like, and fry in lots of oil until golden brown on both sides.

Story Behind this Recipe

I wanted to make something different from the norm using chikuwa, so I made this.
