Rinse the rice well. Add the salt, water, and cardamon, and let sit for 20 minutes. Cover with a lid and bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce the heat to medium and steam. This takes a bit less than 15 minutes on my stove.
Once steamed, fluff it all up. Enjoy it with curry.

For guests, I remove the cardamon from the rice before serving. Feel free to serve it as you like.

I learned this from my Indian friend.
I used Basmati rice. If you use Japanese rice, adjust the amount of water. I don't have a rice cooker, so I cook my rice over the stove.
