Sweet and Salty Chicken Wing and Burdock Root

Chicken wings are loaded with collagen. The burdock root in this dish soaks in so much umami.

Ingredients: 2 servings

□ Chicken wings - the midsection and tip

to taste
□ Burdock root
□ Chicken stock
1 cup (200 ml)
☆ Soy sauce
1 tablespoon
2 tablespoons
☆ Honey
1 tablespoon
Vegetable oil
1 tablespoon


1. Scrape the dirt off the burdock root with the back of a knife, cut up roughly and soak in water for about 5 minutes. Drain.
2. Season the chicken wings with salt and pepper.
3. Heat some oil in a frying pan and fry the wings skin side first over medium heat. When browned turn over and cook the other side.
4. Add the burdock root and stir fry quickly.
5. Add the ingredients marked ☆ (chicken stock, soy sauce, mirin, honey) and mix well. Put a lid on and simmer over medium heat for 15 minutes.
6. When the liquid has reduced by half, turn off the heat. Leave with the lid on until cooled to let the flavors really soak in. Done!
