Cheesy Chikuwa Fries with Yukari

Cheesy Chikuwa Fries with Yukari

This is really simple. I cooked chikuwa with cheese and flavored it with yukari. The 2 sticks of chikuwa tastes great cut up into small bite-sized balls.

Ingredients: 2 sticks of chikuwa

Sliced cheese
1~2 slices
Tempura flour
2 tablespoons
1.5 tablespoons before and after
Yukari (dried red shiso leaves
1/2 teaspoon
Frying oil
as needed

1. Cut the cheese into approximate pieces. Cut the chikuwa in half, and stuff the cheese inside. Cut the chikuwa in half again.
2. Mix the tempura flour, water, and yukari together. Coat the chikuwa from Step 1 in the mixture, and quickly fry it in oil over medium~high temperature.
3. It is done once you drain the grease. Try it together with (Recipe ID: 865867).
4. You can use the leftover batter to make veggie fritters, and there will be no waste.

Story Behind this Recipe

I arranged my children's favorite chikuwa into Isobe Age. The salty flavor of the cheese inside combined with the yukari packs plenty of flavor as-is.
