Chikuzenni -- Braised Chicken and Vegetables

Try this quick and easy Japanese dish made with frozen vegetables. Serve for dinner or for the New Year's feast.

Ingredients: 4 servings

Frozen Japanese vegetable mix
450 g
Chicken
100 g
Konnyaku
1 block
Dashi stock
2 cups (400 ml)
Soy sauce
2 tablespoons
Mirin
2 tablespoons
Sugar
1 tablespoon

Steps

1. Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces, and stir-fry. Put the dashi stock, soy sauce, mirin, and sugar into a pot, and turn the heat to medium.
2. Add the chicken and frozen vegetables to the Step 1 pot, then simmer for 20 minutes over a medium heat. Once the flavours have melded together, it's done! If you let it cool a little the vegetables will absorb the flavours even more, and it will taste amazing.
