Lightly Flavored Fried and Simmered Salmon with Plenty of Sake

Lightly Flavored Fried and Simmered Salmon with Plenty of Sake

Rather than being completely fried, this recipe is more of a half fried, half simmered dish. Children will enjoy the leftover simmering broth over rice.

Ingredients: Serves 4

Fresh salmon
4 fillets
Katakuriko
as needed
♡Cooking sake
100ml
♡ Water
100ml
♡ Mirin
40ml
♡ Sugar
1 Tablespoon
♡ Soy Sauce
1 1/2 tablespoons
Vegetable oil
1 tablespoon

Steps

1. Gently pat the salmon dry with a paper towel. Lightly coat the salmon with katakuriko.
2. Heat vegetable oil in a pan. Fry the salmon until it is lightly browned on both sides.
3. Combine the ♡ ingredients in a pot. Bring them to a simmer, and add in the fried salmon from Step 2. Simmer for about 10 minutes, and it's done.
4. I used a refined cooking sake that has no added salt.

Story Behind this Recipe

My family loves salmon, but I had to make a dish that didn't include ginger, as my children don't like it.
