Stir-fried Bean Sprouts and Prawns with Salt and Garlic

This is a crispy bean sprouts and plump prawns dish.
The simple seasoning of salt and garlic goes well with any drinks.

Ingredients: 2 servings

Peeled prawns
200 g
Bean sprouts
1 bag
Green onions or scallions
Tubed ginger
About 3 cm length
Tubed garlic
About 3 cm length
1 tablespoon
1 teaspoon
Coarsely ground pepper
To taste


1. Devein the peeled prawns and rinse in salt water (not listed). Drain and sprinkle with salt and pepper (not listed).
2. Rise the bean sprouts and drain well.
3. Cut the green onions into 3cm lengths.
4. In a pan with oil (not listed), add ginger and garlic and heat. Fry over low heat until fragrant.
5. Turn up the heat to medium and add the prawns.
6. After the colour of prawns slightly changes, add sake.
7. Add bean sprouts and green onions and season with salt. Continue frying.
8. After everything is cooked, season with salt and coarsely ground pepper.
9. Transfer onto a serving dish and serve! Avoid overcooking the sprouts to keep the crunch.

Story Behind this Recipe

When I bought prawns on sale at the supermarket, there were all different sizes and some were too small to cook with mayonnaise or chili sauce.
I used these small ones to make this tasty stir-fry dish. With this recipe, the small prawns become a main dish.
