Yogurt-Mint Sauce: A Taste of India

Yogurt-Mint Sauce: A Taste of India

This is a recipe to make some refreshing yogurt sauce with a hint of mint. My husband and I were so fascinated by it. It certainly goes well with Indian food, but it's also great with other dishes.

Ingredients: 2 servings

Yogurt
80-100 g
Peppermint leaves
12-15 leaves
Lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon
Salt and pepper
a small amount

Steps

1. Add the peppermint leaves to the yogurt and mix in a blender. (I usually use a Bamix.)
2. Season with lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
3. Indian yogurt is really thick. If you have any Quark (strained cottage cheese), add 1 tablespoon.
4. You can use this sauce as a dressing for vegetable and egg salad.
5. It also goes perfectly with dolma, a Turkish dish (rice-stuffed peppers: Recipe ID: 809602).
6. Pour heaps of this sauce over the dolma.
7. This is how I saw the sauce served in a restaurant. It was served in a pretty dish with some chutney.
8. Served with some couscous salad (Recipe ID: 515311) and hummus (Recipe ID: 515305).
9. Here, I used a lot of Quark instead of yogurt. It turned out like a dip.
10. It looks really cute in a glass.
11. Here it is served with some samosas and salad.

Story Behind this Recipe

I ate some samosas at a festival stand which were served with yogurt sauce. It was so delicious that I asked the chef how he made it. This recipe is based on the ingredients that he taught me.
