Tomato Toast

This recipe will cast a spell on your regular old tomatoes!

Ingredients: 1 slice

Sliced bread
1 slice
1 small
Enough to cover the surface of the bread (1 to 2 teaspoons)
1/2 tablespoon
Grated cheese (Refer to Step 4 if you don't have it)
1/2 to 1 tablespoon


1. Spread the mayonnaise on the bread. Pour the ponzu in a small bowl, dip in each piece of cut tomato, then position them on the bread.
2. Mix the grated cheese with the remaining ponzu, which should have some tomato juice, and mix. Spread on the tomato, especially around the edges. Toast the bread.
3. If you use cherry tomatoes, a lot of juice might come out, but it will be fine. Just pour it all on the toast.
4. If using halved tomatoes, lay on the bread cut side up.
5. If you don't have grated cheese, make a mock version with sliced cheese (Recipe ID: 785706).
6. If the tomatoes are too sweet, sprinkle with a bit of salt while eating. Savor that sweetness with each mouthful.

Story Behind this Recipe

If you combine ponzu with tomato before cooking the tomato, the tomato becomes amazingly sweet.
