Water and Sugar-free! Tasty Simmered Mackerel with 3 Seasonings

With a ratio of 1 part vinegar and mirin to 2 parts soy sauce, this is easy to remember. Up until now, I've been adding sugar and water... but this is amazingly tasty!

Ingredients

Mackerel
1 whole fish
Sake
50 ml
Mirin
50 ml
Soy sauce
100 ml
Ginger
add to taste

Steps

1. Slice the mackerel in half, and chop it into serving sizes. Place on a flat sieve, then pour boiling water over it to remove the odor.
2. Bring the mirin and sake to a boil in a pot, evaporate the alcohol, then add the soy sauce and ginger. Once it comes to a boil, add the mackerel.
3. Cover with a lid, then simmer for 15 minutes and serve.
