Tuna Rice Bowl

Delicious! This is a style of rice bowl called "tekka don," that's made with lean fresh tuna!!

Ingredients: 1 serving

Fresh sashimi quality lean tuna
a 5 x 15 cm piece
Toasted nori seaweed
Green onions or scallions
White sesame seeds
to taste
☆ Soy sauce
1 tablespoon
☆ Mentsuyu
1/2 tablespoon
☆ Sugar
1 teaspoon
☆ Sake
1 teaspoon
1cm worth from a tube of store-bought wasabi (about 1/2 teaspoon)
Vegetable oil
1 teaspoon
Plain steamed rice
1 1/2 bowls full


1. Combine the ☆ ingredients (soy sauce, mentsuyu, sugar, sake) and microwave for 20 minutes to dissolve the sugar. Add the vegetable oil and wasabi and mix well.
2. Slice the tuna on the diagonal.
3. Marinate the tuna slices for about 30 minutes.
4. Shred up the nori seaweed with your hands and scatter on top of the rice.
5. Mound the tuna on top and garnish with chopped green onion and sesame seeds. Pour the marinade over all.
