Finely chop the orange peel.
See "Easy Homemade Candied Orange Peel" (Recipe ID: 738963).
Knead all the ingredients except for the butter and orange peel in a bowl. When the mixture has come together, knead in the butter and peel.
Roll the dough into a neat round, place it in a bowl and allow it to rise to double its original size. When finished, divide the dough into 8 portions and let sit for 20 minutes.
Reshape them into neat rounds, place on a baking tray, and allow to rise for a second time until doubled in size again.
When finished, bake them for 12-13 minutes in an oven preheated to 170℃.
They're fluffy straight out of the oven.
Story Behind this Recipe
I made some candied orange peel and wanted to use it up.
If you are using non-Japanese flour, increase the amount of water by a touch. Store-bought candied orange peels are fine, but homemade ones are more aromatic. See "Easy Homemade Candied Orange Peel" (Recipe ID: 738963)
