Timus (Indonesian Sweet Potato)

Timus (Indonesian Sweet Potato)

In Indonesia, they use a kind of sago palm starch called sagu instead of corn starch. However, timus can still be prepared with regular corn starch.
Please try them as soon as they're fried, while they're still crispy.

Ingredients: for 1 large plate

Sweet potatoes
1 kilo
Corn starch
150 g
100 g~
a small amount
Vanilla extract

1. Peel the sweet potatoes, cut into appropriate pieces, and steam.
2. Mash the steamed sweet potatoes with a potato masher while they're still hot.
3. Add the rest of the ingredients into the mashed sweet potatoes. Adjust the amount of corn starch and sugar to your liking.
4. Form barrel-shaped bite-sized balls. Fry in oil until golden brown.

Story Behind this Recipe

I first made it with 1 kilo of potatoes, but it was so good, I used 2 kilos from the second time.
My helper Nuru taught me this recipe.
