Soft Japanese-Style Pork Steak with a Hint of Wasabi

Soft Japanese-Style Pork Steak with a Hint of Wasabi

Vinegar makes the meat soft and juicy. The wasabi and the vinegar aren't too spicy for a gentle taste. Enjoy this pork steak with a twist.

Ingredients: serves 2

Pork roast or loin (for tonkatsu)
2 cuts
White flour
1 tablespoon
Vegetable oil
as needed
Side vegetables
as desired
[The flavoring ingredients]
Mild vinegar
1 tablespoon
Soy sauce
1 tablespoon
Sake
1 tablespoon
Mirin
1 tablespoon
Tempered wasabi
1 tablespoon

Steps

1. Use a knife to make delicate cuts in the fat and muscle parts of the meat. (This is to keep it from shrinking from overcooking.) Use the flat part to pound the meat to soften.
2. Cover the meat with flour, shaking off any excess.
3. Coat a pan with oil and cook both sides until golden brown.
4. Add all of the flavoring ingredients and cook until the moisture has evaporated. Transfer to a plate and it's finished.
