Rice Burgers For An Easy Lunch

Rice Burgers For An Easy Lunch

This was featured on Cook TV.
You don't need to use a circular cookie cutter for these rice burgers.

Ingredients: 1 serving

Plain cooked rice
1 to 1.5 bowls' worth
■ Sesame seeds
1 tablespoon
■ Soy sauce
1 teaspoon
■ Chicken soup stock granules
1 teaspoon
Sesame oil
as needed
Thinly sliced pork belly
2 slices
Lotus roots
3 cm
[A] Dashi soy sauce (or Mentsuyu)
1 tablespoon
[A] Tianmianjiang (Chinese sweet bean sauce)
1/4 teaspoon
[A] Sugar
1/2 teaspoon
[A] Doubanjiang
to taste
Lettuce (or vegetable of your choice)
as needed

1. Mix the ■ ingredients into the rice. Divide the rice into 2 portions to make 2 round rice balls. (It's easier if you wrap them in plastic wrap.)
2. Unwrap the plastic wrap and rewrap loosely. Overlap the rice balls and press them down to make 2 equally sized "buns".
3. Flatten them out into your preferred sizes and set them aside to cool.
4. Stir-fry the pork, sliced lotus roots, and onions in order, and season with the [A] ingredients to your liking. (You could also use bottled yakiniku sauce.)
5. Heat a generous amount of sesame oil in a frying pan and fry both sides of the rice patties until golden brown. Soak up the extra oil using a paper towel.
6. Sandwich the fillings and enjoy.

Story Behind this Recipe

I made this because my son wanted to eat rice burgers.
