Cute Bite-Sized Strawberry Onigiri (Rice Balls)

Put these mini onigiri into bentos or serve them with lunch!


Plain cooked rice
1 bowlful
Sakura denbu
2 tablespoons
Black sesame seeds or white sesame seeds
a small amount
Daikon radish sprouts
As needed


1. Mix the sakura denbu into the cooked rice.
2. Put a bite-sized portion of rice on a piece of plastic wrap. Form into a pointy ended ball.
3. Stick black sesame seeds on the surface with a toothpick.
4. Make a small hole in the top part of the rice ball and poke in the daikon radish.

I made this for a girls' lunch for residents of my apartment building. They're great for birthday parties and Hinamatsuri (Girl's Festival).
