Cut the hanpen into four triangles. Slice the shiso leaves into half lengthwise.
Make cuts into the upper side of the hanpen triangles.
Sandwich the shiso leaf and melting cheese.
Heat butter in a pan and pan-fry both sides of the hanpen until brown. Drizzle in the soy sauce to finish, and serve.

My mother used to make these for me. I tried sandwiching different things with hanpen, but this recipe is my favorite. It's so easy and tasty. I really want all of you to give it a try Also this pleases guys and small children.
If you're not serving them immediately, cover the pan and steam. This preserves the melting cheese for a while. It's also good when cooled, so you can pack them into bentos.
