For Your Bento Sautèed Spinach with Tarako Salted Cod Roe

Do you have leftover tarako?
Make this as a side dish or pack in your bento.

Ingredients: 1 bento cup portion

Spinach
1/4 to 1/3 bunch
Tarako (salt cured pollack or cod roe)
a thumb's worth
Sake
1/2 tablespoon

Steps

1. Rinse the spinach and microwave at 500 W for 20-30 seconds in a plastic bag. Chill in water, cut into bite-sized pieces, then drain the excess water.
2. Combine the tarako and sake.
3. Heat vegetable oil (a few drops, not listed) in a pan, and briefly sautè the spinach. Add the tarako and sake from Step 2, and toss evenly.
4. Here it is in my husband's bento.

Story Behind this Recipe

I had a lot of spinach and tarako in the fridge.
I wanted to come up with a spinach dish other than boiled spinach as an bento item.
