Vegetarian California Rolls

It looks difficult but it's super easy! Add some colourful fillings and serve it at parties. I made it so it looks like a "9" for 2009.

Ingredients: makes 2 rolls

Hot cooked white rice
2 rice bowls' worth
Sushi vinegar
50 ml
Avocado
1/4
Mayonnaise
to taste
White sesame seeds (seasoned)
about 2 tablespoons
Nori seaweed (whole sheet)
2 sheets

Steps

1. Mix sushi vinegar into hot cooked rice, and leave it to cool.
2. Lay cling film on top of a sushi mat, followed by the nori and 1 bowl of sushi rice. Spread out the rice and sprinkle with white sesame seeds.
3. Flip the roll over so the seaweed is on top. Place the avocado (cut into lengths, 1 cm wide) in the middle and top with mayonnaise.
4. Roll it tightly with the cling film, from the front to back. Cut into 2-3 cm pieces with a wet knife, and it's done.

Story Behind this Recipe

I made this for a vegetarian New Year's party. This is a California roll without the crabmeat. I made it so that the seaweed swirl looks like a "9" for the year 2009!
