Sweet and Savory Isobe Mochi With a Twist

Sweet and Savory Isobe Mochi With a Twist

This sweet and savory isobe mochi has the aroma of sesame oil. I came up with it since I was getting tired of my usual way of making isobe yaki (mochi with seaweed). With its subtle sweetness, it's perfect for a snack.

Ingredients: 4 servings

Pre-cut mochi
Nori seaweed
as needed
Soy sauce
1 tablespoon
1 tablespoon
Sesame oil
to taste

1. Put the sesame oil in a frying pan, add the mochi and grill both sides until well browned.
2. Prepare the sauce by mixing the soy sauce and mirin, and when the mochi get soft, coat them in the sauce.
3. Sandwich them in seaweed, then eat up!

Story Behind this Recipe

I came up with this recipe since I was tired of the regular isobe yaki (mochi with seaweed).
