Nagaimo Yam and Pork Teriyaki Rolls

The crispy yams and the shinny pork coated with a sweet sauce tastes great. It's also a good dish to pack in bento.

Ingredients: from 4 servings

Thinly sliced pork
about 300g
Nagaimo yam
less than 1/2
★ Soy sauce
2 tablespoons
★Cooking sake
3 tablespoons
2 tablespoons
2 tablespoons

White roasted sesame seeds
as needed
Vegetable oil
as needed


1. Peel the skin of the yam and slice into semicircles about 1.5cm thick.
2. Spread one piece of thinly sliced pork. Place the yam from Step 1 to the end closer to you and roll it up.
3. The picture if after I finished rolling all the pieces. This time, I was able to make 14 rolls.
4. Sprinkle katakuriko to coat the surface of the meat.
5. Heat vegetable oil in a pan. Line the meat with the sealed side facing down in the pan and saute.
6. While you are grilling the meat, mix ★ ingredients together.
7. Roll the meat to let the surface of the meat brown all over.
8. When the meat is done, turn down the heat and drizzle the ingredients from Step 6 in.
9. Shake the pan and roll the meat with chopsticks to coat well.
10. Dish up on a plate and sprinkle sesame seeds, then they're done.
11. Note: This time, I used about 300g of pork off-cuts and made 14 rolls.
12. Note: It'll be sweet so if you don't like the sweet taste, reduce the amount of sugar and adjust.
