Chinese-style Sweet & Spicy Simmered Daikon Radish and Chicken

This is a simmered dish made with oyster sauce and gochujiang. The daikon radish soaks up the flavors and it's delicious. This dish contains a lot of collagen.

Ingredients: 4 servings

Chicken thigh meat
1 thigh
Daikon radish
Japanese leek
to taste
★ Water
200 ml
★ Sake
3 tablespoons
★ Soy sauce
1 tablespoon
★ Sugar
1 tablespoon
★ Oyster sauce
1 tablespoon
★ Gochujang
1 teaspoon
★ Chicken stock powder
1/2 teaspoon
★ Ginger (julienned)
1 knob


1. Cut the chicken into bite-size pieces. Cut the daikon radish into chunks and parboil in the microwave. Cut the ginger into thin strips and cut the white part of the leek into very fine strips.
2. Add sesame oil to a frying pan and cook the chicken skin side down. Flip the chicken.
3. Add the daikon radish and cook until browned.
4. Add the ★ ingredients. Cover with an otoshibuta (dropped lid) and simmer for 20 - 30 minutes (until the daikon radish is softened).
5. Arrange on a plate and garnish with the leeks.
