Macrobiotic Lotus Root Tea

Macrobiotic Lotus Root Tea

This sweet and tasty tea is a perfect remedy for coughs. Do not use an aluminum sauce pan.

Ingredients: 1 serving

Juice from grated lotus root
3 tablespoons
Juice from grated ginger
2-3 drops
Salt
a tiny amount
Hot water
100-150 ml

Steps

1. Grate the lotus root and ginger and squeeze out the juice to make the tea.
2. In a small saucepan, add the juice from lotus root and ginger, add the water and a smidgen of salt (measured by scooping it with tips of two chopsticks), then bring to a boil.
3. Drink up while it's hot.
4. When you have a high fever (38℃ or more) and cough, it's best to drink fresh lotus root tea. For that, add 1 teaspoon of the juice from grated ginger and a tiny smidgen of salt (just a few grains scooped onto the tip of a chopstick.)
5. Use the grated ginger as filling for oyaki rice pancakes or hamburgers.
