Wash the fresh cranberries in a bowl and remove the bruised ones.
Put all the ingredients in a pot and heat over low~medium heat for about 15 minutes. Stir occasionally as it simmers so that it doesn't burn. Once the cranberries have softened and lost their shape, it's done!

I prepared this for a Thanksgiving dinner.
It will harden when cooled, so simmer until it's a bit softer than you'd like, then store in a glass container. If using it as a sauce, add a bit of water to the cranberry jam and heat in the microwave to make a hot sauce.
