Spanish Tomato Purée

This is my own version of tomato purée, which you can use in Spanish dishes!

Ingredients: easy-to-make amount

Ripe tomatoes
1 kg
Garlic
2 cloves
Oregano
1 teaspoon
Salt
1/2 teaspoon
Pepper
to taste
Sugar
1 teaspoon
Olive oil
50 ml

Steps

1. If you can, dunk the tomato in boiling water and slip off the peel and cut into chunks. Mince the garlic.
2. Heat the olive oil and garlic in a frying pan until fragrant, then add the tomatoes from Step 1 and sauté.
3. When the tomatoes lose their shape, add the oregano, salt, pepper, and sugar and simmer.

Story Behind this Recipe

This is the most basic recipe for a tomato sauce widely used in Spainsh cuisine. You can use it for easy pastas or pizza sauces as well!
