Soft & Steaming Yam Steaks

I steam-fried some yams and coated in soy sauce. These are simple, yet delicious.

Ingredients: 2-3 servings

Nagaimo yam
2 tablespoons
Vegetable oil
1 tablespoon
Salt and pepper
to taste
Soy sauce or garlic soy sauce
to taste
Bonito flakes
to taste


1. Peel the yam and cut into 1.5 cm slices. Season with salt and pepper.
2. Heat oil in a frying pan and pan-fry the yams until browned on both sides. Lower the heat to low and add in the sake. Cover with a lid and steam for 5 minutes.
3. Once a skewer can be inserted through them easily, drizzle in the soy sauce in a circular motion.
4. Serve up and garnish with bonito flakes.
