Creamy Egg Omu-hayashi

This a hayashi rice dish with creamy eggs. It goes great with demi-glace sauce.

Ingredients: 2 servings

Hot cooked white rice
2 rice bowls
Frozen mixed vegetables
as needed
2 slices
Margarine or butter
1 1/2 tablespoons
3 tablespoons
Store-bought hayashi rice roux
2~3 cubes
150~200 ml
Sugar, salt
a small amount
to taste


1. Heat margarine in a frying pan and saute the mixed vegetables and bacon. Add the rice and stir-fry. Season with ketchup, salt, and pepper.
2. Transfer Step 1 to two plates. Break the eggs into a bowl and add the sugar and salt. Beat together.
3. Add butter into a warm pan and pour in the egg mixture at once. Stir to form the omelet.
4. Bring the omelet to the side of the pan closest to you, and top it on the Step 2 ketchup rice. Use a knife to cut a slit down the middle and open it up.

6. If you like, add 3 tablespoons of milk and 1 teaspoon of sugar to the eggs. It'll become like scrambled eggs.
