Crumbled Tofu and Crabsticks with Thickened Ume Sauce

Crumbled Tofu and Crabsticks with Thickened Ume Sauce

This is good when it's piping hot, but it's also refreshing and delicious when it's cold.

Ingredients: 3 servings

1 block (it was 330 g)
Imitation crab stick
4 to 5 sticks
○ Ume paste (or umeboshi plums ※)
1 to 2 teaspoons
○ Ponzu
2 tablespoons
○ Bonito dashi stock granules
2 teaspoons
○ Sugar
2 tablespoons
○ Water
150 ml
○ Katakuriko
1 1/2 tablespoon

1. Microwave the tofu for 1.5 minutes, and when it has cooled, drain the water. Shred the crab sticks (I used a packet of pre-shredded crab sticks). Combine the ○ ingredients.
2. Put a little sesame oil (not listed) in a frying pan. Put in the crab stick and stir fry quickly, and sprinkle with salt and pepper (not listed).
3. Add the ○ mixture to the pan. When the sauce has thickened, it's done. Garnish with chopped green onions or julienned shiso leaves or mitsuba to your liking.
4. My kids love it served as a rice bowl.

Story Behind this Recipe

I had some tofu and crab stick that were nearing their best-by dates, so I made this and it was a hit.
