All-purpose Tartar-style Dill Sauce

All-purpose Tartar-style Dill Sauce

This sauce has subtle hints of French mustard and capers. It makes a good dip or sauce for fried dishes.

Ingredients: 2-3 servings

Boiled egg (mashed with a fork)
Dill leaves (chopped)
1 tablespoon (or as much as you like)
Onion (chopped)
2 tablespoons
Capers (washed and chopped)
1 large
3 tablespoons
French/Dijon mustard (the smooth variety)
1 teaspoon
1 tablespoon plus
Black pepper
a small amount

1. Combine all the ingredients, season with black pepper and it's done.
2. You can add canned tuna or salmon and use it as sandwich filling, or enjoy it with boiled potatoes, use it as a dressing for warm vegetables, or as a dip. It's also tasty spread on bread.
3. It goes well with deep-fried food. Here, it's served with fried salmon, which goes perfectly with dill.
4. This is what dill flower looked like. I pick the seeds and keep them to plant next year, or use them in cooking.

Story Behind this Recipe

I used the dill that I grew myself, and tried making some tartar-stye sauce with it. I tasted one spoonful and loved it.
