How to Boil Potatoes in the Microwave

Did you know? You don't need to wrap potatoes with plastic wrap when you microwave them! Ttry this when you need to boil a few potatoes. Since it doesn't produce any incombustible garbage, it's environmentally-friendly!

1. Wash the potatoes with the skin on. When using 2 potatoes, place them on the microwave's turntable like the photo shows.
2. I used 2 medium-sized potatoes which weighed 230 g. Microwave for 3 minutes, turn them over so the opposite side is on top, microwave for 1 minute. Once a toothpick can slide through easily, they're done. If they are still hard, microwave for another 30 seconds.
3. While still hot, use a paper towel or cloth to peel off the skin. (Be careful not to burn yourself.) It will peel nicely with a knife as well. Once they cool down a little, you can peel them with your bare hands too.
4. If cooking one potato, place it in the center. Microwave for 2 minutes, flip it over, and microwave for 30 seconds.
5. Here I used small 40-50 g potatoes. I microwaved for 1 minute each time for a total of 2 minutes, 2 exploded. If you're going to microwave several small potatoes at one time, make sure the sizes are all pretty much the same to help prevent them from exploding.

Story Behind this Recipe

My friend taught me this method. You don't need to throw away any incombustible plastic wrap, so garbage is decreased a little bit.
