Take the cream cheese and put it in a bowl. Microwave it at 500 W for about 50 seconds to a minute until softened. Next, beat with a whisk.
Add in the sugar and mix well until smooth.
Crack an egg into the mixture and mix. Add another and mix until incorporated. Add in the milk and vegetable oil and mix well.
Sift in the cake flour and baking powder, and making a cutting motion with a rubber spatula, mix it in.
Take paper muffin cups and pour in the batter, dividing it into 8 portions. Next in a steamer, add them in and on a low heat setting, steam for about 10-12 minutes.
Take a bamboo skewer and if it comes out clean when you pierce them, they're done.
Story Behind this Recipe
I really like steamed cream cheese bread, so I decided to try it by making it myself. These are the result of much trial and error, so I am very proud of this recipe!
While they're steaming, you don't want to keep opening the lid because the condensation from the lid will fall on to the dough, so after it they've steamed for 10 minutes, just take the lid off. When they're cold, just cover them in plastic wrap and microwave to warm them up again. They'll feel like they're freshly baked.
