Flavored Chikuwa with Cucumber

Stuff the cucumber into lightly simmered chikuwa.
They will be more delicious with a small touch.

Ingredients: 1 bag of chikuwa

4 ~ 5 sticks
about 1
☆Bonito dashi stock powder
2 teaspoons
☆ Usukuchi soy sauce
2 teaspoons
2 teaspoons
1 teaspoon
150 ml


1. Add the ☆ ingredients, bring to a boil, and add the chikuwa. Cover with a small lid right on top of the food, and simmer for about 5 minutes over low heat.
2. Take out the chikuwa from the pot, and let them cool. Cut the cucumber into strips to fit inside the chikuwa. Then stuff them inside Refer to Helpful Hints.
3. Cut however you like, and they're done.

Story Behind this Recipe

My mother used to put this dish in my bento lunchbox when I was a kid.
Since the chikuwa are already cooked, they are safe to put in a bento lunchbox as a side dish.
