Mix the egg, soy milk (or milk) and vanilla essence (for flavoring) very well.
Sprinkle in the cinnamon powder.
Soak the bread in the mixture.
Heat a frying pan with a little bit of butter, then toast the bread until it browns evenly.
Pour on plenty of maple syrup, and it's done.
Story Behind this Recipe
Whenever I ate French toast at a restaurant, it was either too hard or too soggy. I created the perfect recipe for a French toast that's crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside!
I always use sliced bread cut into 8 slices (1.5cm thick slices). The result is a superb taste, with bread that's crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside! If the bread is too thick, it tends to become too soggy. For the photos, I used rye bread cut into 6 slices (2cm thick slices), since it has a texture similar to the 8 slice loaf.
