California Rolls

I wanted to try making some rolled sushi with ingredients I had on hand.
You can easily make this with ingredients available even in the U.S.!

Ingredients

White rice
3 rice cooker cups' worth (540 ml)
Vinegar
5 tablespooons
Granulated sugar
a scant 3 tablespoons
Salt
1 teaspoon
Canned tuna
1 can
Canned flavored sardines
1 can
Kinshi tamago
2 eggs
Carrot
2 thin
Avocado
1/2-1
Romaine lettuce
a few leaves
Cucumber
1
Wasabi
as needed
Nori (dried seaweed sheet)
6-7
White sesame seeds
as needed

Steps

1. Mix together the vinegar, sugar, and salt. Rinse the rice, top with kombu seaweed (not listed), and cook the rice to a somewhat firmer texture than usual. Once cooked, mix with the vinegar mixture.
2. To prepare the filling: Boil the carrots. Make the kinshi tamago. (Mix egg with dashi stock granules, a bit of sugar, and katakuriko dissolved in water, and cook.) Cut the cucumber, lettuce, and avocado into pieces Mix the canned tuna with mayonnaise and pepper.
3. Spread a layer of sushi rice over the nori. Top with wasabi and the other fillings, then roll it up. Cut the roll into 8 equal pieces and transfer to a plate.

Story Behind this Recipe

You could use smoked salmon, crab sticks, eel, kampyo, etc., but this time, I just used what I had in my refrigerator.
