Fluffy Butter Honey Bread in a Rice Cooker

Fluffy Butter Honey Bread in a Rice Cooker

This honey-flavored bread is mildly sweet. It's so easy and fluffy because you can let it rise and bake the dough in a rice cooker. A beginner-friendly recipe.

● Honey
3 tablespoons
● Milk
150 ml
● Egg
Strong (bread) flour
300 g
Dry yeast
2 teaspoons
30 g
1/2 teaspoon
Olive oil (or butter)
as needed

1. Put all ● ingredients into a heatproof container. Microwave until it's warm to the touch (about 40 seconds).
2. Combine the bread flour and dry yeast in a bowl. Add the mixture from Step 1 and stir with a chopstick or a spoon. Once the dough comes together, add the butter and salt.
3. Using the palm of your hands, press the dough without taking it out of the bowl. Stretch, fold, and knead for 15 minutes until you can spread it out thinly. Please refer to Helpful Hints.
4. Grease the rice cooker with olive oil or butter to prevent the dough from sticking. Place the dough inside, and turn on the warming setting for 10 minutes. Turn it off, and let sit for 30 minutes for the first rising.
5. The dough should be two to three times its original size once the first rising is complete.
6. Take out the whole rice cooker. Press the dough down with your hands to punch out the air. Divide into 5-6 equal portions and roll them up into a ball. Put the dough back into the rice cooker, and repeat Step 4 for the second rising (warming setting for 10 minutes, turn it off, and let sit for 30 minutes).
7. Let's bake the bread! Just press start and wait until it's done. Turn it over, press start, and wait until it's done!
8. Voila!
9. Enjoy your fluffy honey bread.
10. I toasted a slice in the toaster, and served it with honey and strawberry jam.

Story Behind this Recipe

I learned from recipes on Cookpad that you can actually bake bread in a rice cooker, so I made this mildly sweet honey bread. This recipe is even easier if you use pancake mix, but I wanted to make mine slightly more authentic.
