Spicy Chicken Spaghetti with Grated Daikon (Japanese Style)
Can grated daikon radish be added to pasta? I think so! Grated daikon mixed in with pasta creates an exceptionally good taste that you can enjoy from the first mouthful to the last. It's just as delicious both on days when you want to eat lightly, or when you want something more substantial. Please give it a try at least once!
Cut the chicken into small bite sizes. Cut the green onions diagonally. Chop the garlic finely.
Start cooking the pasta. Put some oil in a frying pan, add the chopped garlic, then turn on the heat. When the aroma starts to rise, brown the surface of the chicken.
Add the green onions and stir fry slightly, add on the grated daikon, red chili pepper and the mixed ●seasoning ingredients. Put the lid on and cook for 3 minutes over medium heat.
Place the cooked pasta in the pan, turn up the heat to combine with the sauce, and serve on a plate. If you like, garnish with shiso leaves or shredded nori on top.
Story Behind this Recipe
This recipe came about when my pasta-loving husband mentioned that he wanted to eat our usual Chicken, Mizuna, and Daikon Radish dish as a kind of pasta. I think he is pretty satisfied with the result.
Lightly squeeze out the water from the grated daikon before using. Cut the chicken into smallish pieces to cook faster. Finish cooking the pasta a minute earlier to allow time for further cooking after the sauce is added.
