Genovese Sauce with Fresh Basil

Genovese Sauce with Fresh Basil

I recommend making your own basil sauce as it is more fragrant and delicious. If you have a chance to get fresh basil, please try this recipe!

Ingredients: 5 servings

Fresh basil leaves
50 g
Pine nuts
40 g
Olive oil
150 ml (3/4 cup)
1 small clove
Parmesan cheese
30 g

1. All you need are the ingredients in this picture, and Parmesan cheese.
2. Pick the basil leaves, rinse under water, then wipe off the moisture.
3. Put the pine nuts, garlic, cheese and olive oil in the food processor. Mix for about 1 minute.
4. Add the basil leaves and mix some more until the sauce turns smooth.
5. It's ready to use! If you aren't using this straight away, put it in a jar and store in the fridge or freezer.

Story Behind this Recipe

My friend who worked in the Italian restaurant in New York taught me how to make genovese sauce.
Since then, I haven't bought any ready-made sauce because I learnt how delicious the homemade sauce is!
