Nostalgic School Lunch Fried Bread

Nostalgic School Lunch Fried Bread

Make this old-fashioned bread from the past at home! Done in 10 minutes I learned this from my mother, who used to work as a school dinner lady sometimes, so it's authentic.

Ingredients: 2 rolls

Unsliced hotdog buns or soft rolls
2 rolls
Kinako
20 g
Sugar
10 to 15 g, to taste
Frying oil
as needed

Steps

1. Use storebought rolls.
2. Mix the kinako and sugar together in a shallow tray (or on a plate). Use as much sugar as you like!
3. Deep fry the rolls in 160°C oil, about 10 seconds on each side.
4. Coat the fried bread on both sides with the kinako-sugar mix.
5. Done!

Story Behind this Recipe

This is a fried bread recipe that I learned from my mother, who used to help out at the school cafeteria.
