Sweet Vinegar Chicken Saute

Sweet Vinegar Chicken Saute

A sautéed version of 'Youlinji' (Chinese deep-fried chicken) with sweet and sour sauce. It's healthy because it isn't fried and the vinegar tenderizes the meat.

Ingredients: 2-3 servings

Chicken thighs
300 g
※Finely chopped green onion
1/2 stalk
※Soy sauce
3 tablespoons
2 tablespoons
1 tablespoon
Sesame oil
1 teaspoon
1 tablespoon
Salt and pepper
a dash

1. Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces. Season with salt and pepper, place into a plastic bag, and coat with katakuriko.
2. Combine the ※ ingredients.
3. Heat oil in a frying pan, add the chicken, and pan-fry each side until browned.
4. Add 1 tablespoon of water or sake (not listed), cover with a lid, and steam fry for 3-5 minutes on low heat.
5. Remove the lid and remove excess grease with a paper towel.
6. Add the mixture from Step 2, stir and allow the flavors to meld until the sauce has thickened.

Story Behind this Recipe

I wanted to eat Youlinchi, but skipped the deep-frying step and using a sauce I already had prepared.
It's simple and difficult to mess up.
