Chinese Soup with Lettuce and Egg in 5 Minutes

You can shred the lettuce and nori seaweed by hand. I just wanted to make an easy tasty soup. It's also delicious over rice (Approximately 66 kcal/serving).

Ingredients: 2 servings

3 leaves
Seasoned nori seaweed
to taste
400 ml
● Chinese soup stock
2 teaspoons
●Soy sauce
2 teaspoons
●Ground sesame seeds
2 teaspoons
1 teaspoon
2 teaspoons
Sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon


1. Combine the ● ingredients in a pot. Bring to a boil, tear the lettuce and add to the pot.
2. Combine the ○ ingredients, add to the pot, and thicken the sauce.
3. While stirring, pour in the beaten egg to the pot a little at a time. When the egg floats to the surface, remove from heat and add sesame oil. Transfer to a serving bowl and top with shredded nori seaweed.

Story Behind this Recipe

You can tear the lettuce by hand. I wanted to make a quick soup with less washing up to do. I slightly altered the seasonings to my favorite turnip soup recipe.
