In a bowl, mix the ground pork and ◇ ingredients with a spoon until sticky. Tip: If you over-mix, the meatballs will be tough.
Add finely chopped onions and katakuriko into the bowl and stir.
Roll into bite-sized balls. (They will shrink a little when fried in oil).
Cook them all the way though over low heat at 320F/160C.
Add the ingredients for the sweet and sour sauce (except the sesame oil) into the pot and heat. Add the meatballs once it thickens.
After the meatballs have been evenly coated with the sweat and sour sauce, add sesame oil and you are done!
Story Behind this Recipe
My mom passed this recipe down to me. My mom always eyeballs the amounts, and couldn't be bothered when I asked her the exact amounts, but she made measured it out, and shared the recipe with me. This is delicious in a different way from the sweet vinegar-based sauce in Recipe ID: 486717.
This makes a lot of sweet vinegar sauce, so you could double the amount of meat!!
