Bring the ☆ ingredients to a boil in a hot pot.
While bringing the broth to a boil, combine the ○ ingredients in a (deep) bowl. By the way, I used 3 tablespoons of white miso and 1 tablespoon of red miso this time.
Once the broth comes to a boil, scoop up 2 ladles of it and mix well into the bowl from step 2, in order to make the flavoring ingredients easier to dissolve.
Add the flavoring ingredients from step 3 into the hot pot from step 1. The hot pot soup base is done.
Serve with any hot pot ingredients of your choice. My recommendations are cabbage, napa cabbage, Chinese chives, leek, gyoza dumplings, kimchi, pork, and mushrooms. White rice goes well too.
This is more risotto-like than a rice porridge. I added cooked rice, cheese, kimchi, and scallions. It's very yummy.
Story Behind this Recipe
I got a craving for a miso hot pot since it started to get cold. I didn't really feel like buying a hot pot base, so I mixed in some miso flavoring that seemed to go well with ramen. It turned out very delicious.
This is just my personal preference, but I feel like it tastes better by using just white miso.
