Beef Rice Bowl

Our easy gyudon (beef rice bowl) recipe.
We add both onions and Japanese leeks!

Ingredients: About 3 servings

Beef (sliced)
200 g
Japanese leek
*Sesame oil
as needed
1 to 2 tablespoons
300 ml
*Mentsuyu (3x concentrate)
100 ml
1 tablespoon
*Soy sauce
1 tablespoon
Plain cooked rice
as much as you want
Red pickled ginger
as much as you want


1. Cut the onion into 3mm thick slices, cut the leek diagonally, and the beef into bite-sized pieces.
2. Stir fry the onions and leeks in oil until soft, using a fairly generous amount of oil. When the onions and leeks are softened, add the beef and stir fry. Add water and bring to a boil. Add sugar and simmer for about 5 minutes.
3. Add the mirin and mentsuyu and simmer for about 10 minutes. Adjust the taste with soy sauce.
4. Put over the rice in a bowl. Use as much sauce as you like. Top with red pickled ginger and serve.
