Here's an easy drinking appetizer using chikuwa. The combination of melted cheese with salty shio-kombu is divine. These are great sake or beer snacks, and also great served with rice or in bentos.
I made this ultimate combination using my favorite ingredients: chikuwa, cheese, and shio-kombu. They're good-looking as bento fillers or one-bite appetizers.
Secure the firmly wrapped chikuwa with a toothpick. If you're short on time, use a microwave. (Be careful not to overcook or else the cheese gets wrinkly.)
