Very Easy Simple Syrup

This is the recipe for simple syrup that I used to prepare when I worked at a restaurant some years ago. I changed the recipe for an easy-to-make amount. You can make this with either caster or granulated sugar -- whichever you have at home.

Ingredients: An easy-to-make amount

250 g
150 ml
Lemon slice
1 slice


1. Add the water and sugar to a saucepan and heat on medium.
2. Turn off the heat just before the mixture comes to a boil.
3. Add the lemon slice; this is to get rid of the scum.
4. Leave the lemon in for a while to eliminate the scum, and leaves the mixture clear. (Once the scum has gone, take out the lemon.)
5. Pour the mixture into an empty bottle and you're done. It's best to store the simple syrup in the refrigerator.
